The house I live in is the one I have been living in for last 15 years. My home is within walking distance to all the necessities, groceries , schools , restaurants and gym which I enjoyed going for my workouts about four times a week. With a very hectic and long work hours that give you very litte time for fitness going to the gym gave the body enough hints to remain strong and agile.

Staying a bit far from the city centre also provides a cost advantage with membership of 10000 rupees per year, much less than that of a good city gym which can cost anything upwards of 20,000 Rupees for basic package. Add the latest and supposedly greatest trendy fitness packages like Zumba, spinning, Pilates, Crossfit and your annual body maintainance bill will run into thousands.

So it seems like basic gym package, which I visited on a regular basis would be a very efficient and Frugal. Right ?

One day I was among the bitz of Amazon/Flipkart sale I came across something rather intresting. This was a full 20 Kg Home gym set available on sale only for 1800 Rupees. The home gym included 20 Kgs plates that can be attached to curling bar, a long bar, pair of dumbbell rods. The package also had also had skipping rope and one pair of hand grip. All of this for just 1800 Rupees.

With Finzaadi always on my mind I sensed that this could be a great opportunity. With this available on ‘discount’ during ‘Sale’ I added it to my kart and completed the order. I eagerly waited it to arrive. Once the order arrived, I impatiently opened the package and I assembled my first Home gym!

Now the 1800 rupees investment I made has made me richer by almost a 1,00,000 Rupees. And I am much fitter.

Having a simple but complete home gym set has allowed me to have a quick workout session all hours of the day, on weekends, holidays, raining seasons. And all of this while saving atleaset 10,000 Rupess each year. This is  counting for the gym packages that are brought with a lot of enthuisaum as part of new  year resolution and then goes as money wasted when you stop going out of sheer laziness of reaching to the Gym.

It is incredibly fantastic to have a home gym, there are no excuses of not wanting to go out or not having enough time for workout. All you have to do is go an pickup barbell or dumbbells and start your work out. You don’t have to move to the same old mundane music you hear in your local gym. Just pick that playlist on your mobile , connect to you home speakers and pump that iron. And before you can probably finish your warm up if you were to go to you local gym you have completed your workout and gave your muscle a reason to grow strong and your  body the thrill of endomorphins. This ease is simple awesome.

Its is so easy that I will go and do a set just now…..and ok I am back!

Keeping youself fit is not very complex. You don’t need to use complex set of machines to hit every tiny muscle of your body. You are not planning to complete for Mr or Mrs Olympiads right?. So why do we spend thousands of Rupees to find complicagted ways like spinning, Pilates, crossfit to achive our simple fitness goals. Cherry on the top is guys who have ride or may be buy Royal Enfields to look cool when they carry a Gold Gym druffle bag just to look cool when to go to the gym. This is quite astoniching to me.

Ladies, you do not need yoga/spinning classes. Lifting weights will not make you muscular. You can lift weights that you find comfortable and achieve your fitness goals.

The whole Fitness market is to make you delusional. And it is all wrong!

If you would have to stick to reality. Just look around the manual labor workers anywhere in India. you would find the fitness level they have is above par and do you thing they go to expensive gyms and use fancy machines. No !. if you read any of fitness books or magazines you would know that Free weights ie dumbbells and barbells are the best way to get in shape and build health amounts of muscle. It is good enough to reduce the later life incidence like heart dieases, bone loss, diabetes and all common old age injuries. And you don’t even need to invest in dumbbells or barbells, lifting any weights on a regular basis is enough to have a longer and healther life. And I believe every only on the planet who has capable arms and legs should be lifting weights regulary. There are no excuses for this.

This applies for both men and women. Just because you are a women doesn’t mean you don’t lift heavy weights. It will not bulk you up which is a common misconception. Lifting weights will help you loose fat, gain muscle and accomplish everything your Yoga or arobecis class would do and probably in greater quantity and in less time.

And this will feel good. You would feel a sense of achievement every time you do. And if you keep adding on how much weight you can lift kudos to you!

Finzaadi is about how to make financially sound decision and this is as sound as it gets. Not only this is the best form of excercies but it is also the cheapest. Cost gyms would spend on the most fancies of equipments with the treadmills with fancy television screens with fans build in. trickly machines that lets you suspend yourself in weird positions promisiong you that its hitting a part of muscle that you didn’t knew existed. And the plain and simple dumbbells and barbells sit on the sidelines of the rarely even used or given significant importance.

Now if you are spending thousands on any sort of health related activites you should be able to slash the expendicute to a fraction of it. All you need is a spare bedroom or a balcony and you can have your own wonderful home gym. You can setup a nice music system in the room to keep thumping rhythm and a dressing table mirror to admire your body after every set! Read on internet or watch youtube videos on what is the best way to use your dumbbells and barbells to maximum potential.  If you outgrow the weights you are lifting you can always get new or old ones. Weights /plates do not loose their value if they are old and you can find very good cheap options on OLX/Quickr.

This way not only you would add to you muscle but also add to you saving and investment that will help you achieve Finzaadi. The magic of compounding works wonders here. The saving with this step alone will make you richer by about 8,00,000 Rupees.
